About This Event

Powered by Research Education at University Libraries. Common Quandaries workshop series offers introductions to a variety of skills, tools, and concepts to researchers on campus.

Citation Practice has broad implications for who gets a voice in academia. Yet, even while improving DEI in education and grant-funded research is becoming increasingly mandatory, research still suggests that people with marginalized identities are under-cited across disciplines. In this workshop we’ll discuss why diversity in citations is crucial, and explore how to build a more equitable citation practice into your writing, research and beyond.

UMD Libraries welcomes individuals with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you have questions about the access provided or would like to request accommodations, please contact libadmin@umd.edu. For some types of accommodations, including securing an ASL interpreter, the Libraries may need two to four weeks of advance notice. Automatic captions will be available for this virtual event
