Have you ever found yourself looking for the ‘final’ version of a document or dataset? Or maybe the ‘final-final’ version? Have you ever wondered if there was a better way to save changes to your work without creating dozens of documents? In this workshop, you will learn the basics of data management and apply these concepts using the ever popular software development tool Git. Git maintains a record of the changes made, when, and why. Using this workflow can help you keep track of changes you make to documents and, when used in group projects, help manage contributions from multiple users.

Prerequisites: This workshop requires access to a bash shell and a GitHub account. If you don’t know what that is - it’s okay! Bash is already installed on Mac and Linux computers.
