Room Capacity

As part of our phased reopening, the first floor of McKeldin Library will reopen to the UMD community on a limited basis starting September 14. A reservation is required to enter the building and to use an overhead scanner.

While our scanners can send scans of a few pages by email, it is recommended that you bring a usb flash drive for scans of more than 10 pages (or more than 5 pages color/high resolution).

Eligibility: UMD students, faculty, and staff (community members, UMGC, and USMAI are not eligible at this time)

When making a reservation

  • Users may schedule only 1 reservation per day. 
  • Appointments must be made using an official UMD email address.

When coming to the library:   

  • Bring your University ID card (you will need to swipe to enter the building) 
  • Comply with all 4Maryland guidelines, including:
    • Perform daily symptom monitoring 
    • Wear a face covering over nose and mouth at all times while inside 
    • Stay at least 6 ft apart from others 
    • Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer 
  • Do not eat or drink inside McKeldin 
  • Do not move seats or other furniture from their assigned locations. 
  • Use wipes provided by the Libraries to clean your workstation after use.
